The Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, which organized the appearance, says it is accepting proposals for a $750,000 grant that will go toward "a ground-breaking program or initiative" and more than $250,000 will cover the launch of Give an Hour Indianapolis.
The Women’s Fund is part of the Central Indiana Community Foundation and it says the funds for a yet-to-be-selected nonprofit will aim to "disrupt the status quo of mental health in Central Indiana with a bold, innovative approach." The fund will accept proposals through August 15 and is encouraging potential partners to "think big."
Give an Hour is a national organization that provides free, one-on-one mental health services with the help of volunteer professionals. The funding to create the Indianapolis office focused on mental health issues among women and girls is through a grant from the Marion County Public Health Department.
Women’s Fund Executive Director Jennifer Pope Baker says "Women’s Fund has made it a priority to promote conversations about mental health in our community. By supporting the mental health of women and girls through the launch of the local Give an Hour office and this innovative mental health grant, we can help more women and girls become healthier and more confident. We know that strong women strengthen and benefit our entire community."
